Welcome

Welcome to "D" Betes "D" Verse. My name is Damon Fitch. My intention for this blog is for it to be a diabetic athlete's blog with some occasional poetic rhythms not always related to my diabetes. In July 2012 I will reach 30 years of living with Type I diabetes. Now 40 years old, I still play tennis and soccer -- and love to hike up mountains whenever I can. In this blog, I hope to share the relationship between my diabetes and my active lifestyle. I also recently joined the committee for the 2012 Vermont Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Walk to Cure Diabetes. Over the coming months, I will share the excitement I am feeling for this great event, which I participated in for the first time in 2011. I look forward to hearing from other members of the Diabetes Online Community (DOC) -- and anybody else out there who may be reading this. As noted above, I also intend for this blog to have an occasional poetic influence. I love to write poems and simple rhymes -- and also look forward to sharing those as well. Let the journey begin......
